Step 1: Consult the paint manufacturer’s technical data sheet.(Example pictured below)
Step 2: From the data sheet find the recommended spraying pressure.
Step 3: From the data sheet find the coating pot life.
Step 4: Decide how many guns you will be running – Enter quantity into pressure loss calculator.
Step 5: Decide how many lengths of hose you will be using – Enter quantity into pressure loss calculator.
Step 6: Decide number of swivels – Enter quantity into pressure loss calculator.
Step 7: Decide number of fittings – Enter quantity into pressure loss calculator.
Step 8: Calculate vertical rise from pump to gun – Enter distance into pressure loss calculator.
Step 9: Add pressure loss to paint manufacturers recommended spraying pressure to ensure preferred pump has sufficient maximum pressure.
Step 10: Decide on power source
Step 11: Determine litres per minute flow rate required
